My Top 5 Favorite Cat Toys
I have accumulated many toys since I was adopted, but I’m very selective on which ones I want to play with. I could care less about the toys shaped like silly human things, such as my vodka-shaped toy or my bread-shaped ones. But my favorite toys listed below—now these really get me going!
5. My Blue Q catnip pouches
My mom picked up these catnip pouches in Las Vegas last year as a souvenir gift for me. They have quirky designs on them, much like all of the creative Blue Q brand. Every day, my mom will put these pouches away in my toy storage area and find that I've dragged at least one of them back out by the next morning.
4. My fried egg toy from The Spoiled Cat
My mom picked up this beautifully crafted Fried Egg Catnip toy from The Spoiled Cat at the Portland Saturday Market. I love any interactive toy on a string like this, but this one is especially well made.
3. My pillow from @meow.myday
My furend @meow.myday gifted me this pillow and mat last year, and I was immediately in love with it. I go absolutely insane every time I get in contact with this pillow. I have to wonder what they put in the catnip?
2. My mouseys
I love playing fetch and jumping as high as I can to catch my mouseys. I have at least ten mouse toys scattered throughout the house, but you will never find most of them. Instead, I keep the same one or two worn-out mouseys in my main living space and play with them every day.
I have shoved the others under the fridge/dresser/into the unknown, and they shall never be recovered.
1. My “Mothy”
This cheap $4 Amazon buy is just a few mini paper rolls on a thin wire. It kind of looks like a moth when my mom whips it around. I will come out of any room, no matter what I'm doing, if I hear Mothy’s drawer open. Nothing brings out my hunting instincts more than chasing Mothy around the house and swatting at it.
Tip of the week: Take care of your dental health
Did you know: More than half of all cats over age 4 have some kind of dental disease? (Source)
Just like humans, it’s important to take take care of your cat’s dental health. They too can develop dental diseases like gingivitis, periodontitis, and tooth resorption, which can lead to pain and discomfort, or they may stop eating altogether, causing further issues. The best way to keep this from happening is to take preventative measures, such as the following:
Regularly brush your cat’s teeth (Learn more from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine)
Get occasional deep cleanings from the vet every few years (These are covered by some pet insurance Wellness Rewards)
Feed your cat dental treats like Greenies (The Chicken flavor is my favorite)
Use a dental additive in a separate water dish, such as Oxyfresh
Get a small dental toy to play with

This week, I would like to give a loving slow blink to my friend @a_a_plin. Look at the mustache on this little guy! Make sure you give them a follow—they’re new to Instagram and still growing.
